In Everything Give Thanks
In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. 1 Thess. 5:18 KJV
It is a good thing to give thanks unto the LORD, and to sing praises unto thy name, O most High. Ps 92:1 KJV
Praise enhances revelation and it is the stepping stone to supernatural manifestations. It imparts revelation which, in turn, helps us operate in the class of God. Every day we make choices; we choose to be thankful or full of complaints. God can only work for us through thanksgiving. Look at Habakkuk 3:17-19 TLB:
Even though the fig trees are all destroyed, and there is neither blossom left nor fruit; though the olive crops all fail, and the fields lie barren; even if the flocks die in the fields and the cattle barns are empty, yet I will rejoice in the Lord; I will be happy in the God of my salvation. The Lord God is my strength; he will give me the speed of a deer and bring me safely over the mountains.
In spite of what it looks like or seems to be, I will rejoice in the Lord and praise Him because He is worthy. Things begin to change when I praise God and give Him thanks. Look at Paul and Silas at the midnight hour; they did what works best—praised the Living God, and look at the results:
Around midnight, as Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to the Lord-and the other prisoners were listening-suddenly there was a great earthquake; the prison was shaken to its foundations, all the doors flew open-and the chains of every prisoner fell off! Acts 16:25-26 TLB
When we praise God, we receive a harvest: Let the people praise thee, O God; let all the people praise thee. Then shall the earth yield her increase; and God, even our own God, shall bless us. Ps 67:5-6 KJV
Praise is the rain of the Spirit that turns every seed into a harvest. Every word of God we have heard is a seed, and in order to reap a harvest, the seed must be watered with praise. Praise brings us into God’s presence and He shows us the path of life through it.
Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fullness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore. Ps 16:11 KJV
Finally, singing is the way out of any situation, regardless of who it is. Singing helps us get our minds off the issue at hand, especially if it is a test or trial we do not want to encounter. We can do like Paul and Silas. In fact, the scripture tells us we should have a song in the night.
Ye shall have a song, as in the night when a holy solemnity is kept; and gladness of heart, as when one goeth with a pipe to come into the mountain of the LORD, to the mighty One of Israel. And the LORD shall cause his glorious voice to be heard, and shall shew the lighting down of his arm, with the indignation of his anger, and with the flame of a devouring fire, with scattering, and tempest, and hailstones. Isa 30: 29-30 KJV
Friends, let us enjoy our Thanksgiving season unhindered. Our God is on our side, so let’s praise Him with everything we have!
