The Gift of the Spirit Part 2

When Jesus commissioned the Church, He didn’t expect His followers to minister to the world and deal with the tactics of Satan without His powerful help.

So the Holy Spirit gave gifts to the Church to empower believers to reign in life!

But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.    -1 Corinthians 12:7

Praise the Lord Saints, thank God we can study this important subject together, and get an understanding of the importance of the gifts of the Holy Spirit and its purpose in the Church.

Last week, I deliberately pointed out that in the Scriptures they are called “manifestations” of the Spirit, but today we call them “gifts” of the Spirit.  I also gave you the scriptures that talk about these manifestations, (1Corinthians 12: 8-11.

Now, let’s go a little further on this very important subject.  There are two different kinds of thinking about the working of the gifts of the Spirit, and if we are not careful, we’ll miss out.  Some folks have said, “Well, we’ll just wait and leave it up to Him.”  And, in a sense, that’s what the Word is saying.  You can’t choose to manifest any of the Holy Spirit gifts.  On the other hand, in 1 Corinthians 14:1, Paul says, “…desire or covet earnestly Spiritual gifts.”

So you don’t sit passively and idly say, “it’s just whether the Spirit wills or not.”  No, you press in!  You eagerly desire, you earnestly covet the Spiritual gifts.

Many have asked which gifts are the best.  To answer that in a general sense, the best gifts are the revelation gift of the word of wisdom, because the word of wisdom is a supernatural revelation concerning the plans and purpose of God.  And to know God’s plan and purpose in your life is more important than anything!

Yet when it comes to power gifts, special faith is the best one of them. And when it comes to the vocal gifts,  prophecy is the best of them

However, in a more specific and practical sense, the best gift is the one that’s needed at the moment!  Hallelujah!

1 Corinthians 12:11

But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he wills.

You will find that different ministries or ministry offices are equipped with certain gifts.  (Now, that doesn’t mean they can use them whenever they want to.)  For instance, the ministry of the prophet would have to have at least two revelation gifts plus prophecy operating.  Anyone could have a word of knowledge, a word of wisdom, or discerning of spirits operate in his life continually.  But the prophet has the revelation gift operating in his life on a more consistent basis.

The evangelist should have the gifts of healing and working of miracles accompanying his ministry, because the one clear example of an evangelist in the New Testament is Philip, and Philip had these gifts operating in his ministry.  Actually, we don’t have any other example except Philip.

Acts 8:5-7

5 Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria, and preached Christ unto them

6 And the people with one accord gave heed unto those things which Philip spake, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did.

7 For unclean spirits, crying with a loud voice, came out of many that were possessed with them: and many taken with palsies, and that were lame, were healed.

Word for Today:  " The Key That Will Unlock Increase In Your Life"

Few people start a ministry with the Vision of staying small and ineffective.  No, God made us to desire growth.  He constructed us with the desire to achieve.  In fact, the very first marching orders mankind received from God was a mandate to generate increase.  That’s why week after week I am searching the scriptures looking for Biblical keys that the Church of the Firstborn can use that will unlock the God-kind of prosperity and increase in our lives. My question of the day for you is, “Are you merely hoping for increase, or are you taking steps to find The Key That Will Unlock Increase In Your Life?”
