The Gift of the Spirit Part 4

When Jesus commissioned the Church, He didn’t expect His followers to minister to the world and deal with the tactics of Satan without His powerful help.

So the Holy Spirit gave gifts to the Church to empower believers to reign in life!

But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.    -1 Corinthians 12:7

In my initial issue on this subject I mentioned that First Corinthians 12 list nine manifestations of the Spirit called the gifts of the Spirit. In other words, these are nine ways in which the Holy Spirit works or manifests Himself.  For more details you can read verses 8 through 11.

I had also mentioned that these manifestations were broken down into three different categories.  We called three of them the “revelation” gifts - because they reveal something.  Then I mentioned the “power” gifts – because they do something.  And then I called the last three the “inspirational” gifts – because they say something.

Then in the second and third issues of this article I discussed what gifts should be in manifestation in the ministry of the evangelist.  To be specific about it, I said that the evangelist should have the gifts of healing and working of miracles accompanying his ministry.  And I used the Scripture from Acts 8:5-7 to highlight this point.  As a matter of fact, Phillip is the only evangelist mentioned in the New Testament.  Two weeks ago I closed with this point, I did not know a thing about the gifts of the Spirit until I was baptized in the Holy Ghost and spoke with other tongues as a Catholic young man.

I did not receive any teaching about the gifts of the Spirit until 1976 although I was filled with the Holy Ghost in 1971.  But looking back in my life I started to have the manifestation of the gift of the word of knowledge and the word of wisdom in 1972 but did not know what it was.

After I was filled with the Holy Ghost I got the left foot of fellowship from my family and the Catholic Church, so I became a Pentecostal.  In those days the Pentecostal people would close every service with everyone coming down around the altar to pray.

During one of these prayer times, with my eyes closed, suddenly the Holy Spirit started revealing things to me just like looking at a television screen.  I saw the situation concerning my mother’s salvation, my children salvation, and various other situations.  And I told them what the Holy Ghost had showed me.  And praise God my mother got saved and filled with the Holy Ghost, all my children are saved and filled with the Holy Ghost.  It was through the manifestation of the word of wisdom and the word of knowledge my family were saved.   Praise God.

Well, I am out of time today, but I will continue next week.  Until then enjoy your life in Christ Jesus.  God Bless you.

Word for Today:  "Careful Planning Brings Increase"

Having a deep commitment to a sound plan, and the determination to carry it out is a fundamental management principle, both for individuals and for organizations.  Without a plan, you have nowhere to go and nothing toward which to direct your energies. Without a plan, you can only react to circumstances. That’s why Careful Planning is one of the Bible’s Keys to Growth and Increase both for families and organizations. As we read in the Book of Proverbs, “The Plans of the diligent leads surely to advantage, but everyone who is hasty comes surely to poverty.” My question of the day for you is, “Are you being hasty?  Or are you pursuing a plan with determination?”
